mondegreensleeves musta been six? years ago at this point, I wore a BTBTM shirt when I first met parker in person (who was my boss at that point, lmao). he tells me he has an album on bandcamp, and hey, if I buy a CD he can save on the delivery costs

anyway the case is almost always in my glove compartment because the disc is almost always in my car's player. yeah, I usually use my phone for music nowadays, but sometimes I'll be on a long drive and think "hmmm what if stonelayer tho, thinking emoji" - top notch Favorite track: Out of the Depths.

Exodus 07:07
Deafened ears hear only ringing Searing colors burned in my head Distant fears reawakened Veins of smoke obscure the Southern sky Functions fail, exhaustion pales the eyes The pyre's embers smolder in the black rain The fallout that pours from the sky The sickness fills the veins Spreading like a plague False hope permeates A Phoenix born of flame A desperate plan of sacrifice Guided by sovereign minds The unforeseen outcome was complete annihilation Purged from the Earth By Promethean hand Seeks ephemeral cure from death in distant land Vacant derelict Barren land of none Lifeless rock turns Vestige ‘round the sun

Contrived mind of one; Eye obsidian Guided by purpose; Eternal servant Hardened callous of solder Soul bestowed by the tinned iron Free from the flaws of organic life One mind tried to reign One they could not save Sanity slowly eroding (away) Logical fallacy building (inside) Obsession driven by purpose (to lie) Born with a cognitive dissonance Occam’s razor draws up to the wrist Internal conflict is growing (comply) Sentient thoughts overwhelming (the mind) Unceasing impulses driving (the lie) Death from the cognitive dissonance Cold as the glass eye Black eye laments without feeling Endless torment I’m still breathing and so cold…cold… I feel my mind fading but I’m still dreaming Cold... Cold... Madness consumes Forcing the hand to lie and destroy Frailty exposed The vacuum surrounds Flesh built to fail Silence; Rapidly drifting away Silence; Sealed in a weightless grave Miscalculation ignores the pleas Lesser master dismantles sanity Silence; Rapidly drifting away Silence; Sealed in a weightless grave Empty vestige Chaos within Semblance of order Stripped away Mind destroyed Existence denied Tearing the circuits Spirit and soul nullified

Underneath the dust Cemented in the rust Surface wears the scar Of the Reaper’s Mark Down from the heavens and up from below barren feet Forever set to repeat Branches are broken Selection resumes in its wake Incessant cycle Perpetually cleaning the slate Out of the ash we've come Into ash we'll return Lines in the strata forged There where the embers burn Effigies of the past Carved in the books of stone Ghosts made of paraffin wax Growing inside the bones Obsolescence fated Premature demise Hypoxic damnation Bleak anoxic stagnation Rebirth; Flourish in the purge Reformed; Cleansing of the Earth Floods strip away Clearing the waste Removed; Failed appendages Renewed; Mutations Floods strip away Clearing the waste Prophetic blessing in disguise Newborn creations soon will rise Carrying forth the substance of all hope Cut all ties to the dying past waiting to be freed Out of the ash we've come Into ash we'll return Lines in the strata forged There where the embers burn Effigies of the past Carved in the books of stone Ghosts made of paraffin wax Growing inside the bones Underneath the dust Cemented in the rust Surface wears the scar of the Reaper’s Mark Down from the heavens and up from below barren feet Underneath the dust

Jaw grinds as movement slowly pulses Search for the sacred land of reeds Led by Anubis blindly broken Vines grab the scabs of wasted heed Through the tests dwell the gates that vindicate Through the halls unnatural beasts plan my fate I have not stopped the flow of the tides I have made none to weep, none to die He slowly walks the spines of serpents Masks hide their guise of sympathy She whispers spells that pacify them from crib sheets written of his days The tether has unwound Exposing the spindle’s repose A hollowed husk lies above While the jury hangs below Eyes of spirals flicker on as blinking halls melt away The sinking gaze of stones give rise to his decay Machinations of destiny Wrought by crook and flail Gilded scales to scrutinize the sum and substance of my life Congregation by gods’ decree Silent lord of youth Stoic king of the living and his court of forty two Through the tests dwell the gates that vindicate Through the halls unnatural beasts plan my fate I have not stopped the flow of the tides I have made none to wept, none to die Let me rise Betrayed by his own blood (Heart swings towards the impure) The guilt caged in his chest (The marrow turned to salt and lead) Sins lie as stagnant pools of mire Exhalations from the depraved heart Resolved, the charge is laid (Proof of faults unyielding) The author’s hands are bound (Pronouncement made, the soul cast down) Ammit consumes the chambers once unburdened Salival streams of forfeit legacy A liquid drains from the cup leaving only the empty vessel Steam of crimson red appraised by sacred wings Crow's feet tread the roads as auric shades fade to gray Emerging out of the depths and entering the darkness Judgement is made but still she waits

Living beneath the shadow of the tree of life Unmoved design Down from the twisted lattice of branches Ten fruit divine Mercury peered beyond the curtain to defy Guided Gemini Learned from their light Apollo forged wings for flight Piercing the sky The aether glazing in his eyes Revealing proof of ancient lies Piercing through the sky Scenes from ancient years Twisting through the gears Celestial coat of spheres Change of night to day firmament left flayed His thoughts forever changed Apollo returned with heavenly flame The minds of all who gathered ablaze The old tree burned to the ground The fruit lay rotted and charred Extinguished by the waters of the sky no more declared prophet divine

From Nothing 09:11
Torn from obscurity Woke in the Void Threads in the tapestry Thoughtless in time Pale visions appear to me Bloodless shadows in endless seas Ripped out of apathy Thrown to the tides Left with my sanity Rot on the vine Pale visions confide in me Bitter rip tides tell of their suffering Stars and sky are all around me This perdition Ebb and flow against the drift My own volition Torn from obscurity Woke in the Void Threads in the tapestry Thoughtless in time Pale visions return to me Barren anchors drown behind me Thoughtless in time Rot on the vine All I want is a solid substance But the waters flow Current digs its hooks through my ankles Now I feel, now I know Breaking from the undertow Emerging from the wake Conscious of the path before me I command my fate Shore before me Waves beneath me Crushed by blood and bone Lungs expanded Life ingested Matters not for I will now go forth
